Jesus was often interrupted,
yet never too busy to love well.

Motherhood has a way of teaching you that same kind of love… slow, patient, and self-giving.

As a doula, I get to witness this kind of love in its most raw and sacred moments.

Not in spite of the exhausting, overwhelming days,

And then this organ proceeded to nourish your baby, support your body, and grow an entire system from scratch.

Yeah, you can’t tell me pregnancy isn’t one of the biggest (yet most everyday) miracles.🤍🤍

Had to give the placenta her moment ;)

let’s talk about those cramps you feel after birth…

you could be thinking
wasn’t that the end of it?

but it’s not your body playing tricks on you

right after birth, your uterus is still about the size of a grapefruit (around 2 pounds!)

over the next 6–8 weeks, it is slowly shrinking back down, through those very cramps you feel

working to return everything back, without you even thinking about it🥹

You know just your everyday driveway baby 💁🏻‍♀️
(blood and birth warning)

This birth was a first for me. Around 6am my client texted that contractions were about 8 minutes apart. As a second-time mama, she knew what was happening and we had prepared for this in our prenatals. By 10am things were picking up, but she was still breathing through them and even talking through some. I encouraged a hot shower and continuing to distract herself. After speaking with her OB, they decided to keep laboring at home.

About 30 minutes later, I got the call that they were heading to the hospital. The plan had been to stay home longer, but she felt it was time. Ten minutes after that, they decided to go to a closer hospital because the drive felt too far. Three minutes later my phone rang again — she couldn’t get in the car. She was outside on the driveway, on hands and knees, and her water had just broken.

I knew this baby was coming right there. I drove, praying the entire way, while staying on the phone coaching her husband through how to catch his baby. Paramedics were on the way. By the time I arrived, she had one full contraction and at 11:32am she breathed her baby out with one forearm in the snow on her driveway.

It was beautiful, there was no intervention 😉, and everyone is safe and healthy. It wasn’t the plan, but it was God’s plan for this sweet family of four🤱🏻
